What’s for Breakfast?

Steel Cut Oats with Pecans

I’m sure that you’ve heard the saying “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day”, it’s a saying that was coined by Dr John Kellogg, yes that Kellogg. As it would so happen, there’s a lot of truth behind that saying. Breakfast is breaking the fast your body did while sleeping, by having breakfast it replenishes your body’s glucose levels while boosting energy levels and alertness - oh and lets not forget adding vital nutrients that your body needs.

There’s a lot to be said about what you eat for that first meal of the day. What you’re seeing is a bowl of Bobs Red Mill Gluten Free Steal Cut Oats, I’ve included a link so you can read more about them. I’m always doing something different with my oatmeal, I’ll add chopped apple or chopped pecans to it like I did today. Now I do something differently from the directions on the bag for 1 serving, I use 1 cup of water instead of ¾ cup. One can add so many different wonderful things, be it fresh blueberries or strawberries, sliced banana or perhaps you like a little brown sugar and cinnamon (go easy on the brown sugar). While my husband isn’t so keep on oatmeal, I’m a huge fan. Steel Cut oats are different than rolled oats and they’re a bit more chewy. You can read up All About Oats at Bobs Red Mill, it’s informative plus you’ll find some great recipes. There’s defiantly more than just one type of oats. Go explore the site and see what they have to offer, it’s one of my favorite websites.
