I was making a completely different apron, and unbeknownst to me, it had slipped a bit in the hoop, and I didn’t notice until the 2nd color. Grrrr! But wait! Your project can be saved with a little out-of-the-box thinking and some appliqué work.

I got to work on what I used to cover up my blunder, and here’s what I came up with—

Using a pumpkin pattern from OESD embroidery and a sweet phrase from Embroidery Library and a pretty fabric scrap from my scrap basket. I used “shape flex” iron-on stabilizer on the back of the fabric, and a lightweight cut-away stabilizer on the back of the apron (both stabilizers are by Pellon), and I used Glide embroidery thread.

Now the best part—my apron is even cuter than what I had originally planned!
