Houseplants

What are your thoughts on houseplants?

I am aware that not everyone possesses a green thumb or enjoys maintaining an indoor garden. Personally, I have a deep appreciation for houseplants, whether they are green and leafy or flowering varieties; I find them all captivating.

In the past, I had a collection of African violets in various colors and varieties. However, having young children and houseplants proved to be incompatible. Let's just say that my enthusiastic helpers assisted me a bit too much, resulting in the demise of my plants due to overwatering.

It wasn't until our children reached their teenage years that I decided to revisit the idea of having houseplants again. While at our local nursery, I spied some African Violets and then I saw the Christmas Cactus, along with a big Geranium plant. They all came home with me.

My mom loved geraniums; she grew them in pots on her patio, especially the red ones. My mother-in-law had an amazing Christmas Cactus plant that would have stunning blooms. As you can see, I was feeling rather nostalgic and purchased plants that reminded me of the old days. The violets are about my past and my children, and the other two are about my mom and my mother-in-law.
