Design Walls
Design walls are one of those wish list items some quilters have, and now they're more accessible than ever. When space is limited, creativity knows no bounds, and many of us have discovered ingenious ways to create our own design walls.
In my previous home, I transformed my humble basement Secret Garden Sewing Room into a design haven using drapery clips and closet curtains, pinning quilt blocks with ease to the fabric. When not in use, the curtains functioned as the covering for my sewing room closets.
After downsizing and moving to a new home in a new state, my Secret Garden Sewing Room expanded - it was the only room in our new home to get larger while everything else was downsized - and I utilized my extra-large workstation island to lay out quilt blocks. However, I recently discovered a design wall that fit my specific needs at Missouri Star Quilt Company, complete with grommets for effortless hanging.
Yesterday, with my daughter's assistance, I happily hung my removable design wall using 3M removable hooks attached to the front of my IKEA Kallax units, and I'm thrilled to unlock its full potential on a regular basis.
